As you probably know, Botanics is a skincare brand by Boots and is only sold there. Apparently I am not very attentive in the skincare aisles since I only truly discovered the range a few months ago when in desperate need of a nighttime face cream. Comparing prices, as you do, and being attracted by the clean design and almost natural cosmetics kind of feel, I tried the tester – yes! Tester! For skincare! – and the Botanics All Bright Hydrating Night Cream is what really got me interested in the brand. Since I bascially have never read anything on Botanics on germanspeaking blogs before, I thought I might as well fill the gap. A tip, so to speak. Disclaimer: Every skintype is different etc, I am writing this from my subjective experiences 🙂

I was attracted to the All Brights range first of all. At my ancient age I can truy say I don’t have oily skin (anymore). If there is any skin issue it’s mostly dry spots or flakiness or even pallid appearance. Pallid – bright,..you get it!

This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun. Use a sunscreen and limit sun exposure during usage of the product and for a week after use of the product has stopped.
The cream’s tester just fascinated me right away – not that I applied it (eugh!) but the texture was just so smooth! The cream is not too stiff or too runny, it has this slight “herby-flowery” scent, which I love. What completely hooked me though was the result! Usually, to be honest, I am the skincare type of “just try it”, even though I really should know better, I know! I still have high hopes in finding the perfect product for me and for once my profane approach paid off: After one application I perceived my skin as refreshed and calm in the morning. Which I pinned on my good night’s sleep. This time.
After more than three months of using it I actually look forward to wash my face and apply that cream every night – it just feels so nice! No thightness, no burning sensation, no breakouts (!), the opposite more like. Even during the hormonal acne-prone stages during the month I feel the Botanics skincare takes the wind out of its sails. More about that later for day cream and the clay mask though. The night cream absorbs nicely completely without leaving any awkward film on the skin. In the mornings my skin feels lovely, smooth and soft, it even beats the persistent dryness around my nose.
Yes, there are silicones in the ingredients, but apparently my skin isn’t bothered. Not at all. Quite an every-night-hero, making it in previous monthly favourites.
As mentioned before it contains AHA, meaning you are supposed to wear sun screen – the day cream of the range has an SPF of 15, handy:

So, being totally smitten by the effects of the night cream I obviously had to purchase the day cream of the range as well. Not regretting it so far: The day cream contains the sun screen you would want using AHA skincare. It is much much lighter than the rich night time moisturiser which is already made obvious by the runny texture. Applying it after cleansing my face in the morning I can almost hear my skin breathe it in. Since the night cream has such a great effect on my skin, applying the day cream on top leaves my skin with a healthy and radiant appearance – any dryness vanishes but there also is no shiny residue. Smooth and soft my skin feels perfectly prepped for make up.
Ever since I started using these creams I barely had any breakouts or issues regarding the longevity of my make up. The scent of the day cream is fairly similar to the night cream. Both seem to be almost guaranteed repurchases already.

Since Boots usually has offers on skincare products, I got the All Brights Cleanser in one of the 3for2 offers.
I wanted to buy a creamy, not too hard cleanser that just is…mild. Well, I got that, I must say. You can remove eye make up with this cleanser but let me tell you it takes longer and you definitely need warm water. Face make up is removed easier but personally I like it a lot in the morning to refreshen and cleanse the face. There surely are loads of similar cleansing lotions out there, I like the scent and texture of this one but I probably wouldn’t repurchase right now.

I guess I am quite into the oils craze right now, since I dedicated them a whole blog series regarding hair care. Being so content with the night moisturiser I obviously researched the rest of the Botanics skincare range. Just clicking through the products this facial oil caught my eye right away.
It’s not unusual that skincare oils don’t contain the very best of oils after all, which made me take a look in the ingredients list. The surprise! The very first ingredient is Sweet Almond Oil and Argan Oil…I confess that it just made me more curious. Comparing price with the amount of product you can assume you get a genuine oil mixture. After exhausting days I love this as a luxury treatment. It leaves the skin slightly shiny until it’s absorbed which is why I prefer using it at night. It does absorb well though and doesn not sit on the skin! Any thightness or very flaky skin are miraculously cured, it works best over night. It comes with a handy dropper which makes the dosage of a liquid easier. A few drops are enough for a great result so I am hoping it will last me a long time

Even though toners usually are neglected and titled as redundant – but I love them anyhow! It is kind of terrifying what you can still get off your face after removing the make up and at times even after a shower.
And yes, this toner does that too, it cleanses thoroughly. The spray is handy regarding the amount of product you use, it also refreshens nicely which might be due to the alcohol in it. Personally, I didn’t experience any irritations so far, but since I suffer from occasional dry skin I probably won’t repurchase. I was just being curious, dangerous when paired with the “Rosewater” print on it.

Yes, even this eye cream was enabled by my experiences with the face moisturisers. A few weeks ago I suffered from some sort of reaction on my eyelid – a dry and slightly red, itchy area. I just had to find some lotion…so I checked the Botanics range. The All Brights product range does have a roll-on but the rather short ingredients list of the Organic eye cream got me. Even though there is alcohol again, the many different oils right at the beginning balanced it out for me.
In short: This eye cream cured said skin irritation in just a few days. I still use a cooling eye roll on in the morning and this cream in the evening.
Botanics Shine Away

So, after referring to my skin as slightly dry – a mattifying face mask next? Yep. It’s a clay mask you can use as an exfoliant when washing off. It dries in this great stiff way leaving your face frozen. I use it about once a week, especially on chin, nose and nose bridge, simply to take control of the blackheads there. Using this in combination with the All Brights moisturisers I feel my nose isn’t so flaky anymore and the blackheads are in check. Personally I love that it comes in a tube and not a sachet.
Concluding – a very interesting brand for me. I love the textures, the “formulated without parabens” and “people tested” on all products speaks for itself. Not all products appear to be holy grail material but I would recommend to check out all the product ranges, there could be gems lingering in there, just like the night cream or facial oil are for me! Mir ist die Marke vor einiger Zeit bewusst aufgefallen, da ich unbedingt eine Nachtcreme brauchte und ich so Preise verglich. Das sehr cleane Design bzw. die naturkosmetische Aufmachung haben mich zum Tester greifen lassen – jawohl, Tester! – und die Botanics All Bright Hydrating Night Cream brachte den Stein ins Rollen. Der Tester dieser Creme hat mich einfach fasziniert – nicht, dass ich mir die Creme aufgetragen hätte (eugh!), die Konsistenz war aber so schön – in Ermangelung eines anderen Wortes – glatt! Die Creme ist nicht zu fest oder flüssig, rutscht im Tiegel auch nicht und hat einen zarten “pflanzlich-blumigen” Duft. Was mich aber am meisten begeistert hat, war die Wirkung! Bei Hautpflege bin ich häufig der profane Typ “probieren geht über studieren”, auch wenn man gerade hier vorab recherchieren sollte, ich weiß, ich weiß! Ich habe die Hoffnung, eine perfekte Pflege für mich zu finden noch nicht gänzlich aufgegeben usw… und dieses Mal habe ich damit richtig gelegen: Schon nach einer Anwendung kam mir meine Haut morgens richtig gelassen und beruhigt vor. Ich schob es auf den guten Schlaf. Erst mal.
Nach über drei Monaten freue ich mich nun schon direkt jeden Abend auf das Reinigen und Cremen – die Creme tut meiner Haut gut! Kein Spannen, kein Brennen, keine Breakouts, eher das Gegenteil! Selbst in hormonbedingten “acne-prone” Phasen des Monats habe ich das Gefühl, die Botanics Pflege nimmt dem ganzen etwas den Wind aus den Segeln. Bei Tagescreme und Maske mehr dazu. Generell zieht die Creme wunderbar ein, ohne klebrige oder fettige Rückstände. Morgens ist meine Haut glatt und weich, und selbst die hartnäckige Trockenheit um die Nase ist stark gemildert.
Auch wenn Silikone enthalten sind, scheint meine Haut das nicht zu stören. Ganz und gar nicht. Absoluter Überraschungsheld und zurecht schon in meinen Favoriten vertreten gewesen.
Wie oben erwähnt, ist eine AHA enthalten, weshalb man tagsüber Sonnenschutz tragen sollte – und die dazu passende Tagescreme enthält diesen auch praktischerweise:

Nachdem mich die Nachtpflege derart hingerissen hat, war natürlich die Tagespflege der nächste logische Schritt. Und bislang habe ich auch das nicht bereut: Die Tagespflege enthält den Sonnenschutz, den man auch unbedingt benötigt. Sie ist viel leichter als die Nachtpflege, was sich schon in der viel flüssigeren Konsistenz bemerkbar macht. Morgens nach dem Reinigen aufgetragen, spüre ich förmlich wie meine Haut sie wegtrinkt. Mit der guten Nachtpflegewirkung als Basis lässt diese Creme meine Haut sehr gesund und frisch aussehen – etwaige Trockenheit verschwindet, es bleibt aber auch kein glänzender Rückstand. Weich und glatt ist die Haut für mich ideal für Make Up vorbereitet.
Bislang hatte ich noch keine Probleme mit Breakouts oder Haltbarkeit des Make Ups. Im Geruch ist sie der Nachtcreme recht ähnlich. Beide Cremen sind für mich jetzt schon Nachkaufkandidaten.

Da es bei Boots so gut wie immer eine Aktion gibt, habe ich mir diesen Cleanser der All Brights Reihe bei einem 3for2 mitgenommen.
Ich wollte einen cremigen, nicht zu festen Cleanser, der einfach mild ist. Das habe ich auch bekommen. Man bekommt damit zwar auch Augenmakeup entfernt, es dauert aber etwas und braucht warmes Wasser. Für Gesichtsmakeup aber oder morgens zum Reinigen ideal. Es gibt sicherlich zig ähnliche Reinigungslotionen, mir gefällt der Duft und die Textur hier aber schon sehr gut. Bislang kein Nachkaufkandidat.

Dass ich gerne mit Ölen in der Pflege spiele, wisst ihr ja spätestens seit der Haarigen Themenreihe. Nachdem ich überraschend mit der Nachtcreme so zufrieden war, habe ich mir natürlich alle übrigen Produkte auch angesehen. Schon beim Durchklicken ist mir dieses Öl förmlich ins Auge gesprungen.
Natürlich besteht nicht jedes Pflegeöl aus guten Ölen, weshalb ich misstrauisch in die Incis geschaut habe. Mit positiver Überraschung! Gleich an erster Stelle Sweet Almond Oil und Argan Oil…ich war verzaubert und musste es probieren. Der Preis für die Menge spricht auch für die Inhaltsstoffe und ich bin mit der (zugegebenermaßen Rabattpreis-) Ausgabe höchst zufrieden. An anstrengenden Tagen, sowohl für mich als auch Haut gönne ich mir meist abends dieses Öl. Bis es einzieht ist es glänzend auf der Haut, weshalb ich es lieber abends verwende. Es zieht aber gut ein und verbleibt nicht fettend auf der Haut! Spannungsgefühle oder sehr trockene Haut sind weg, über Nacht wirkt es noch viel besser. Durch die Pipette auch gut dosierbar, ein paar Tropfen reichen aus! Gefällt mir außerordentlich, und ich hoffe, ich muss es nicht allzu schnell nachkaufen.

Auch wenn Toner/Gesichtswasser oft als überflüssig betitelt werden – ich liebe diese Produkte! Immer wieder bin ich erstaunt, was Toner nach dem Abschminken und oft sogar nach einer Dusche noch aus dem Gesicht holen können.
Was auch bei diesem Toner zu beobachten ist. Er reinigt wirklich noch einmal gut nach. Dieser Toner von Botanics hat einen Sprühkopf, ziemlich praktisch hinsichtlich Produktverbrauch, es erfrischt auch sehr gut, was natürlich teils am enthaltenen Alkohol liegt. Ich hatte noch keine Irritationen deswegen, da ich selbst teils trockene Haut habe würde ich es aber wohl nicht mehr nachkaufen. Es hat damals einfach die Neugier, gepaart mit dem “Rosewater”-Aufdruck, gesiegt.

Jup, auch diese Augencreme wurde durch die Gesichtscremen enabled. Ich hatte vor einigen Wochen entweder eine Reaktion auf einen Lidschatten oder einfach nur ein trockenes Lid. Rau und teils leicht gerötet musste ich einfach etwas finden – ich ging also zur Botanics Theke. Die All Brights Reihe hätte zwar auch einen Augenroll-on, aber die vielen guten…bzw. insgesamt wenigen Inhaltsstoffe ließen mich zur Organic Serie greifen. Die Liste ist verhältnismäßig kurz und auch wenn hier wieder Alkohol enthalten ist, wiegen es für mich die viel weiter davorstehenden Öle auf.
In kurz: Die Creme hat meine Irritation innerhalb weniger Tage weggepflegt. Ich benutze morgens einen kühlenden Augenroll-on, diese Creme abends.

Nachdem ich jetzt so viel über meine zu Trockenheit neigende Haut geschrieben habe – eine mattierende Maske? Jawohl. Eine Ton Maske, die man beim Abwaschen auch als Peeling benutzen kann. Sie trocknet “steif”. Ich benutze sie ca. einmal die Woche besonders auf Nase und Kinn und der Region zwischen den Augenbrauen, einfach, um den kleinen Blackheads zu zeigen, dass ich immer noch kämpfen kann. Ich habe das Gefühl, in Kombination mit der All Brights Pflege ist meine Nase nicht mehr trocken aber auch die Blackheads halten sich mehr in Grenzen. Diese Maske mag ich sehr gerne, u.a. auch, weil sie nicht im Sachet kommt!
Zusammenfassend für mich eine interessante Marke. Mir gefallen die Texturen sehr gut, das “formulated without parabens” bzw. “people tested” auf allen Produkten spricht auch für Botanics. Nicht alle Produkte sind absolute holy grail Kandidaten, aber man sollte sich durchaus durch die Produkte klicken, es können wahre Juwelen dabei sein, wie etwa für mich die Nachtcreme oder das Gesichtsöl!
