Well, ain’t that the truth, eh? May usually passes by rather quickly and I must say it was a brilliant month for me. Especially in comparison to last year’s…but let’s move on.
Major plus: I do have a miss product for you this time! Woo!

Regarding eyeshadows I obviously had favourite or rather most reached for palettes: Both of them I have already reviewed extensively, I guess the only thing that’s missing now are extensive looks with them! Thanks to the (1) Make Up Revolution Iconic 3 I actually get the hype about the NAKED 3 palette now, I think. The make ups you can create with it are still rather netural but just go in a different direction than just “brown”…these kind of make ups you can easily achieve with the (2) Comfort Zone von Wet’n Wild btw. A drugstore gem!
A true surprise to me was the (3) Manhattan Eyemazing Eyeliner Pen in Black – I honestly love the concept of eyeliner pens, but most of them just aren’t satisfying in terms of opaque colour/longevity/precision etc. Mostly I moan about how the pens get one eye done nicely, while they give out on the second lid and leave a streaky, non-opaque line (mostly due to the fact that you simply can’t use them holding them upside down!). This one though seems to be a complete opposite, working perfectly on both eyes. I am curious to see how it will last.
Learning from my Cut Crease Make Up, I switched the pencil brush for outer V/crease blending yet again with the (4) Zoeva Luxe Definer Brush. The bristles are longer, softer but can be concentrated in the crease as well. And most importantly: No stuttering across the lid! It appears to be rather flimsy at first glance but I just love the Luxe Defined Crease. My second brush here is by Zoeva as well and seems just as redundant. Au contraire! The (5) Eye Finish Brush is a perfect option when you just can’t seem to be able to blend out a harsh line on the eyelid. The firmer bristles just make it easy!
Since it recently got all warm and summery even in the UK I am enjoying more vibrant lip colours again as well, mostly the oh-so-generic pink-coral. For longlasting purposes I love the (1) Rimmel Apocalips, especially in the shade Aurora, which is still a more muted shade next to the popular neons.
The (2) Revlon Lip Butter Wild Watermelon has a similar effect colour-wise, is less opaque though and works great with nude eyes.
And yes, I now Nivea lip balms actually are not the epitome of lip care but I noticed how much I like using this (3) Repair & Beauty one in May. It lives in my make up drawer and I apply it every morning before make up and while doing my foundation etc it works its magic on my dry, wrinkly and all in all super attractive lips. By the time you apply a coloured lip product it smoothened out my lips softly. In case I forget to apply lipstick it leaves a nice rosy hue.
Surprisingly I loved bronzers in may. Together with the (3) Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation I preferred the (1) elf baked bronzer in St Lucia. It contains a quite finely milled shimmer in a rather neutral brown tone. combined with a dewy foundation like Bourjois it provides that lovely summery glow, I especially loved it around the temple area.
Even though the (2) alverde pore-minimiser actually does not have any miraculous ingredients, I feel it gives me a nicer finish around my nose. Might be just my imagination but any foundation I tried it with went on more smoothly.
No surprise in the nail department though: After gushing about it in my post I actually painted my nails with the (1) Artdeco Peppermint again within just two weeks! That honestly hardly has happened in the past few years.
Regarding accessories I fell in love with the pale blue ring from Matalan and this Primark necklace. The latter just wears so easily with just about anything.

Misses
Yeah! I got a flop product for you! I actually feel a bit silly each month stating I don’t have any “Misses”. Actually, this time it’s more of a “meh” product again than a omg-so-dreadful-don’t-buy-it-not-even-your-mother-in-law.
The Olaz essentials eye make up remover must have been part of a beauty subscription box. Even though I usually am quite loyal to the Balea Zwei-Phasen-AMU-Entferner, I do enjoy trying new removers. This one comes in a handy squeezy tube packaging. The cream is actually not greasy but has a distinctive and frankly weird unpleasant scent. Reminds me slightly of old cosmetics that have gone off…mixed with “old school” skincare, in case you have a ghastly smell in your mind now – that’s it hoho.
Anyway, brave as I am I treid it anyhow and well yes, it does remove eyeshadow fairly well. Gel liner or good mascara though, well, not so much. Meaning you have to massage thoroughly. And there still is make up residue left anyway. It just feels redundant for a make up remover, to go over with something else then anyway – a remover just has to get off non-waterproof mascara! Right now I use this lotion to just cleanse my face, subduing the scent as well. I just wouldn’t recommend this product.

Ja, ist auch so, nicht wahr? Der Mai zischt regelmäßig an uns vorbei. Diesmal war er in der Tat ein Wonnemonat für mich, starke Verbesserung zum Vorjahr.
Und: Ich habe ein Flopprodukt für euch! Ha!

Bezüglich Lidschatten habe ich dieses Monat eindeutige Favoriten bzw. most reached for: Beide Paletten habe ich auch ausführlich vorgestellt, jetzt fehlen wohl nur noch ausführliche Looks! Ich denke, dank der (1) Make Up Revolution Iconic 3 kann ich den Hype um die NAKED 3 durchaus verstehen. Das Make Up wird sehr neutral, hat aber eine andere Richtung als “braun”. … diese Art von neutralen Make Ups kann man aber etwa auch aus der (2) Comfort Zone von Wet’n Wild herausholen. Für den Preis ein richtige Schmuckstück!
Eine richtige Überraschung war der (3) Manhattan Eyemazing Eyeliner Pen in Black – ich liebe das Konzept von Eyeliner Pens, aber die meisten sind für mich einfach nicht zufriedenstellend schwarz/deckend/longlasting/präzise usw. Am meisten stört mich ja, dass viele Pens auf einem Lid eine perfekte Linie ziehen, am zweiten Lid aber schon Farbe verlieren (ua weil man die Stifte einfach nicht kopfüber halten kann). Dieser hier hat mich bislang in dieser Hinsicht nicht enttäuscht! Die Farbe ist pechschwarz, die Spitze präzise und es funktioniert auf beiden Lidern problemlos. Bin sehr gespannt, wie lange das so bleibt.
Aus dem Nachgeschminkt gelernt und den Pencil Brush für Outer V/Crease gegen den (4) Zoeva Luxe Definer Brush getauscht. Die Borsten sind länger, softer, können aber sehr konzentriert gebündelt werden beim Blenden in der Lidfalte. Kein Stottern! Auf den ersten Blick scheint er flimsig, aber ich liebe den Luxe Defined Crease. Der zweite Pinsel hier ist etwas älter, ebenfalls von Zoeva und scheinbar ebenfalls redundant. Au contraire! Der (5) Eye Finish Brush ist für mich die perfekte Option, wenn eine Farbe sich schlecht ausblenden lässt. Der festere Druckpunkt macht es einfach!
Da es jetzt in der Tat wirklich sommerlich warm wurde, hatte ich auch Lust auf viel kräftigere Farben, vermehrt im Pink-Korall Bereich. Als longlasting Variante liebe ich die (1) Rimmel Apocalips. Besonders gerne habe ich Aurora, eine noch etwas gemutete Farbe benutzt.
Ebenfalls in eine ähnliche Richtung geht (2) Revlon Lip Butter Wild Watermelon – eine absolut perfekte Sommerfarbe, mit nude geschminkten Augen ein go-to im Mai.
Und ja, ich weiß, Labello ist eigentlich nicht ideal zur Lippenpflege usw., dennoch habe ich diesen Monat bewusst wahrgenommen, wie gerne ich diesen (3) Repair & Beauty doch verwende. Er lebt in meiner Schublade und jeden morgen, trage ich ihn vor dem Schminken auf, um ihn währenddessen auf trockenen, faltigen, superattraktiven Lippen einwirken zu lassen – bis zum etwaigen Lippenstiftauftrag sind meine Lippen glatt und weich. Und sollte ich keinen Lippenstift auftragen, gibt dieser Labello einen Hauch von Rosé.
Überraschend habe ich im Mai echt gerne zu Bronzer gegriffen. Gemeinsam mit der (3) Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation habe ich bevorzugt den (1) elf baked bronzer in St Lucia verwendet. Er hat einen sehr feinen Schimmer und einen recht neutralen Braunton, weshalb man damit, in Kombi mit einer dewy Foudnation wie Bourjois, in der Tat sommerlich-sonnengeküsst aussieht, gefiel mir besonders um die Schläfen sehr gut.
Auch wenn der (2) alverde Poren-Minimierer grundsätzlich keine Wunderinhaltsstoffe hat, bilde ich mir ein, dass er die Region um die Nase sehr gut ebnet! Mag reine Einbildung sein, aber jede Foundation wurde mit dem Minimierer darunter etwas glatter, ebener.
Auf den Nägeln absolut keine Überraschung: Nach dem großen Jubeln im dazugehörigen Beitrag, habe ich (1) Artdeco Peppermint in der Tat nach zwei Wochen noch einmal lackiert! So knapp hintereinander habe ich schon lange keinen Lack doppelt lackiert.
Hinsichtlich Accessoires haben deutlich der blassblaue Ring von Matalan und die Kette von Primark gewonnen. Besonders letztere trägt sich einfach prima zu absolut allem.

Ja! Diesmal habe ich ein Flopprodukt! Ich komm mir jedes Monat schon etwas blöd vor, weil ich kein “schlechtes” Produkt zu bieten habe. Auch diesmal ist es eher “meh” als furchtbar-oh-mein-Gott-kauft-das-bloß-nicht-nicht-mal-der-Schwiegermutter!
Der Olaz essentials Augen-Make-Up-Entferner war in einer Beautybox enthalten. Auch wenn ich seit Jahren dem Balea Zwei-Phasen-AMU-Entferner treu ergeben bin, probiere ich doch aus, wenn man mir etwas Neues vorsetzt. Dieser Entferner kommt in einer eigentlich ganz praktischen Tube als Creme. Die Creme an sich ist nicht schmierig, hat aber schon mal einen seltsamen Geruch. Ein bisschen, als wäre sie schon abgelaufen…vermischt mit “altmodischer Pflege”, wenn euch das jetzt ein grausiges Duftbild in den Kopf setzt – dann passt’s höhö.
Dennoch todesmutig ausprobiert und joah. Lidschatten werden schon gut entfernt. Gel Eyeliner oder gut haftende Mascara…da dauert es schon länger. Und man massiert rum. Und am Ende ist doch noch immer was da. Deutlich. Das ist mir dann einfach zu blöd. Ein AMU Entferner muss nicht wasserfeste Mascara doch wirklich gründlich entfernen können. Ich benutz die Lotion jetzt generell in der Dusche zum Reinigen, weniger entfernen. Kann ich als Entferner nicht empfehlen, der Geruch ist auch nicht meins!
