The birthday month has passed already. Birthday for the blog and also for me. Kalter Kaffee has been keeping me and you company for the past four years now. I would have never guessed I would have such devotion to it! And yes, there still has to be a giveaway, for all those people that actually are reading this right now.
I suffered from severely dry and chapped lips in July. Lord knows why, and during the most desperate times I have been using the Burt’s Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm, next to ordinary Nivea cream I must say. This balm though, is so smooth and melts on the lips like no other. Just perfect for chapped lips or intense moisturising before bed.
Next to this lip balm I have been using the Labello/Nivea Lip Butter Blueberry Blush which surely is not as nice as the Burt’s Bees in terms of intense lip care but just so handy and smells agreeably(!)-fruity.
In times of scorching heat I barely used anything but lip balm but the Manhattan Lips2Last 43H slipped into my purse more than once. It’s very, very longlasting indeed. The colour is somewhere between coral and red, almost a lip-version of OPI Red Lights Ahead…Where? (lookfantastic). That one colour lasted about 10 days on my nails, you can see me wearing it in the Mascara Monday #3. Great, bright summer lacquer, also for your toes. Slightly more pink, coral in artifical light though, is Absolute Douglas ABSOLUTE Nails Summer Affair Nr. 38, extremely long lasting, see it here: Mascara Monday #1.
During the last week of July I fell head over heels for the few nude shades in the BarryM Hi-Shine Gelly line: I am still wearing Coconut, slightly chipped now though since once nail decided to break. I still owe you swatches of all my eight (ahem) colours, mea culpa. Coconut is an off-white, beautifully opaque and very shiny nail varnish. These Gelly polishes usually last me a good 5 days.
Apart from very few exceptions the eyes were all about the LORAC Pro Palette (amazon.com), such a great palette indeed! This one definitely will make its way into my yearly faves for sure. The composition is just on point.
Unbelievable but true, another month of me showing Falsies in my favourites – exactly the same as in June even. The Ardell Demi Wispies are just the best lashes I have ever used so far. They almost apply themselves and look natural enough to not scream falsies from across the street. The outer corner gives a nice flare as well.
Next are two of my best brushes in my collection so far: The elf Flawless Concealer Brush with its very unique shape and softness has made itself indispensable for any concealer blending.
The second brush here is by elf as well, the Small Tapered Brush can be used for so many things, I would order it again right away!
Summer+sweltering heat=sweatfest. We all know it, we all hate it. Finding a good deodorant is very subjective, I have been using a spray in July, very unlike me, Borotalco has been on tv a lot, which usually makes me suspicious. I still cannot give a full verdict of things but I felt it leaves my armpits rather nice, drier and odourless. Borotalco itself smells like baby powder, which I really like.
The new Nivea Sensitive night cream provided for a positive surprise. I have shown it earlier in my Skincare New in and now that I am actually using it I love how similar the texture is to my beloved Botanics night cream. For my night time skincare regimen I prefer a thicker, richer consistency and this one leaves my skin moisturised and smooth, and: No irritations so far!
Misses
It is both surprising and heartbreaking that I have to mention this one as a Miss: I would have never expected to find my favourite foundation brush in this category, ever. But sadly, the Zoeva Buffer Pinsel lost so much hair during the last cleanse, I just could not ignore it. I am not talking about the odd hair or two, more like strands of 20-30 hairs at once. I was quite shocked to be honest, expected the ferrule to come loose at any second as well! I have been taking care of it well if I may say so myself: Gentle cleaning, drying overhead or lying flat. I bought it in 2011 and yes, I actually thought it would easily reach its 5th birthday before showing any of these symptoms. Yes, it is still very dense and yes, it also is still usable, of course. I cannot deny my disappointment though.

Geburtstagsmonat auch schon wieder rum. Geburtstag für den Blog und auch für mich. Kalter Kaffee begleitet mich und euch jetzt schon vier Jahre. Ich hätte nicht erwartet, dass ich so einen langen Atem haben werde! Und ja, es wird noch ein Gewinnspiel geben, für all jene, die das hier grade wirklich lesen.
Ich hatte im Juli ungewöhnlich trockene Lippen und was mir morgens in akuten Zeiten neben normaler Nivea Creme wirklich am meisten geholfen hat, war der Burt’s Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm. Noch viel zarter als die üblichen Burt’s Bees Balms, schmelzend wäre das richtige Wort. Ideal für sehr rissige Lippen oder als Pflege vor dem Schlafen.
Neben diesem Lip Balm habe ich seit Erhalt sehr gerne zur Labello Lip Butter Blueberry Blush gegriffen, sicherlich nicht so pflegend, aber ein angenehm(!)-fruchtiger Duft und einfach praktisch zur Hand.
Wenn’s mal mehr als Lip Balm sein sollte, habe ich den Manhattan Lips2Last 43H geliebt. Sehr, sehr longlasting und in der Farbe irgendwo zwischen Coral und Rot, ein bisschen wie der OPI Red Lights Ahead…Where? (lookfantastic) für die Lippen. Der OPI war um die 10 Tage auf meinen Nägeln, zu sehen in einem Mascara Monday #3. Toller, knalliger Sommerlack, auch für die Zehen. Etwas mehr Pink, aber in Kunstlicht eher Coral ist der Absolute Douglas ABSOLUTE Nails Summer Affair Nr. 38, hielt eine Woche ohne chippen; zu sehen bei diesem Mascara Monday #1.
In der letzten Juli Woche habe ich mich sehr in einige nude Töne der BarryM Hi-Shine Gelly Reihe verliebt: Hier seht ihr Coconut, alle anderen meiner Farben bin ich euch noch in einem Swatchpost schuldig, mea culpa. Coconut ist ein off-white, deckt ausgezeichnet und glänzt! Die Gellies halten sehr gut, 5 Tage sind locker drin.
Auf den Augen gab’s neben seltenen Ausreißern natürlich die LORAC Pro Palette (amazon.com), so eine tolle Palette! Die schafft es sicherlich in meine Jahresfavoriten. Die Zusammenstellung ist zu 90% so, wie ich es machen würde.
Unglaublich, aber doch wahr, sind zum zweiten Mal Falsies in meinen Favoriten – und zwar haargenau die gleichen wie im Juni: Die Ardell Demi Wispies sind die besten Lashes, die ich bislang benutzt habe. Bringen sich wie von selbst an und sehen toll aus, ohne zu krass zu betonen, dass es Falsies sind.
Zwei der besten Pinsel in meiner Sammlung zur Zeit: Der elf Flawless Concealer Brush hat eine sehr eigene Frisur und ist dabei angenehm weich.
Der zweite Pinsel hier ist ebenfalls von elf, der Small Tapered Brush kann so viele Funktionen übernehmen, ich würd ihn jederzeit wieder bestellen.
Sommer+Hitze= Schwitzen. Kennen wir alle, hassen wir alle. Ein gutes Deo zu finden ist sehr subjektiv, ich habe im Juli, ganz untypisch für mich, ein Sprüh-Deo ausprobiert. Borotalco wird zur Zeit auch im TV beworben, was mich ja eher misstrauisch macht. Ich kann zwar auch noch kein absolutes Urteil abgeben, ich hatte aber das Gefühl, dass der Achselbereich weitaus angenehmer, trockener und ziemlich geruchsfrei blieb. Borotalco riecht beim Sprühen übrigens 1A nach Babypuder, ich mag das.
Positiv beeindruckt hat mich die neue Nivea Sensitive Nachtcreme, die ich im letzten Skincare New in erwähnt hatte. In der Textur erinnert sie mich sehr an die Botanics Nachtcreme, die ich sehr liebe. Nachts bevorzuge ich eine reichhaltigere Creme und diese hier lässt meine Haut nach der Reinigung schön gepflegt aussehen und scheint sich auch gut auszuwirken: Keine gröberen Irritationen im Juli.
Misses
Überraschend und traurig zu gleich ist mein Flop: Nie hätte ich damit gerechnet, meinen Lieblingsfoundationpinsel in dieser Kategorie zu finden. Leider hat der Zoeva Buffer Pinsel beim letzten Waschgang aber dermaßen gehaart, dass ich es nicht ignorieren konnte. Ich spreche hier nicht von 3 Haaren, eher Büschel von 20-30. Ich war echt schockiert, da der Pinsel nur liegend oder kopfüber getrocknet wurde, sorgsam gepflegt wurde usw. Ich habe ihn mir 2011 gekauft, und ja, doch, ich hatte mir schon erwartet, dass er zumindest den 5. Geburtstag erreicht, bevor er diese Symptome zeigt. Natürlich ist der Buffer immer noch dicht, natürlich noch verwendbar. Enttäuscht bin ich trotzdem.
