I have to admit I never expected any other Sleek palette to knock my socks off so soon after that glorious Vintage Romance Sleek released late last year. But then…they announced the Garden of Eden. And here we are!
The top row consists of perfectly-complementing-each-other mauve-taupe shades, just gorgeous! The bottom row is made up of green shades except for one. There are two matte shades that contain finely milled golden glitter, three matte colours and the rest of the palette are frosts and shimmers.
To be honest with you – I hardly could decide on the pictures for this post! I had a rough 30 to 40 perfectly clear and true to colour pictures for both palette and swatches. Insane. Let’s hope the camera stays with me when I do an eye look next. I must say the swatches came out perfect for this one, I really enjoyed looking at them on my own arm. As always with my i-Divines swatches: On primerless skin and a slightly damp brush from a wet wipe.
Well, yes I know, this palette probably is not really catered to people who just detest green and even the most wonderful top row probably isn’t worth the purchase then. However, whoever uses green just ever so often in their routines, you better watch your wallet now! Personally, I love how using gold and greens affects the appearance of my brown eyes and emphasises the green rings. The top row can easily compare with the ever so hyped Urban Decay Naked 3 if you asked me. Rosy-taupe-mauve shades suit just about everybody indeed!
The palette kicks off with a nice warm gold with a slight rosy hue. Gates of Eden is perfectly suited to use alone or as a highlighting shade in the inner corner in darker make ups. The next two shades are some of the most gorgeous colours ever, and I do believe they both premiered in this palette, can’t remember any similar ones in previous Sleek palettes: Eve’s Kiss is a pretty, light mauve while Paradise on Earth is just slightly darker with a more brownish hue.
The bottom row starts with a midtone brown with a matte base infused with fine gold glitter: Despite the glitter Entwined is perfectly suited for blending in the crease. If you layer it the glitter shows up nicely. Adam’s Apple is the first absolutely matte shade in the first half of the palette and probably the only colour out of all 12 that resonates a mere “meh” in me. It does work nicely as a blending shade in green looks though. Fig could be considered as Adam’s Apple frosty sister – quite similar in the shade but the heavy frost gives off an almost golden finish.
The second half shows more of the amazing mauve tones in the top row: I’d like to think Python is more Paradise on Earth’s counterpart: Where Paradies can be considered a mauve with brown, Python is a brown with mauve undertones in my opinion. The darker Python can easily be used alone on the lid or to shade the outer V. What follows is probably one of my most favourite shades in all the palette: Forbidden is a magnificent matte taupe with fine golden glitter. I just love it! Just like with Entwined Forbidden can be used for blending without leaving you looking like a disco ball. You can apply it more heavily and the glitter becomes more visible as well – not chunky but almost in an elegant way. I don’t have any issues with fallout with this one but you sure can tap off some of the glitter. Flora is a warm dark brown which matches the mauves and taupes. It is a nice change to the usual matte black in the palettes, which would have been way too harsh here.
The following greens, Evergreen and Fauna are beautiful green shades which work nicely as green emphasise in neutral make ups too. The latter, Fauna, I very much like. The last eyeshadow of the palette, Tree of Life, an intense, matte dark green reminds me of the now discontinued Hip Hop on a Tree Top by Catrice. Very vibrant and great in combination with greens or taupes either way.
All the eyeshadows are buttery soft and easy to blend. The most difficult shade is Adam’s Apple – matte and light is usually more work intense.
The following I let pass without commenting, just judge for yourself…it’s a beauty really. I mean, no, judge for yourself!
So far, I’ve shown two make ups created with the palette on Instagram. I obviously used the palette way more often just didn’t take more pictures. Both these make ups couldn’t be more diverse:
With the first make up I intended to show the more neutral possibilities with the palette. Only using the mauve shades the result is a beautiful day to day look I’ve recreated many times so far: Eve’s Kiss in the inner corner, Paradise on Earth on the lid, Python in the outer V with Forbidden blended out in the crease.
And the second look I could almost pass off as St. Patrick’s Day inspired. But to be honest I just wanted to use the vibrant greens already: Fig in the inner corner, Evergreen on the lid. Tree of Life in the outer V with Fauna blended in between. I decided to use Flora in the crease to bring in some warmth.
As always, the palette contains 13.2g at the usual £8 or €10 price point, also available on amazon, “Designed and developed in the UK, produced in China”. And since many people had asked when I posted it on Instagram earlier in the month: I believe you can only get this beautiful limited edition packaging when you purchase it in the UK, if you order in Germany you will get a standard black cardboard sleeve.

So, how do you like it? The forbidden Eden palette – is it just too much green after all? If so, are you going to bite the bullet for the awesome rose tinted top row?
Ich muss zugeben, nach der Vintage Romance Palette hatte ich nicht erwartet, dass mich demnächst eine Palette von Sleek wieder genauso umhauen würde…und dann wurde die Garden of Eden angekündigt.
Die obere Reihe besteht aus Mauve-Taupetönen, genau wie ich sie liebe. Die zweite Reihe fast ausschließlich aus Grüntönen. Insgesamt enthält die Palette zwei Töne mit matter Base und goldenem Glitter, drei komplett matte Töne und Rest schimmert mehr oder weniger stark.
Es war diesmal richtig schwer, mich für Bilder zu entscheiden, weil ich in der Tat jeweils von Palette und Swatches so an die 30 bis 40 scharfe, farbechte Bilder bekommen habe, hui! Die Swatches sind hier wirklich großartig geworden, ich wollte sie gar nicht abwischen haha. Wie immer bei den i-Divines ohne Base mit mit Reinigungstuch befeuchtetem Pinsel.
Gut, für Grünhasser wird sich auch die wundertolle obere Reihe nicht auszahlen, aber wer auch nur ab und an mit Grün schminkt, sollte hier genau hinsehen! Ich für meinen Teil verwende gerne und durchaus häufig Grün in Make Ups, bzw. verstärken Gold- und Grüntöne den grünen Anteil in meinen braunen Augen. Die oberere Reihe hält meiner Meinung nach locker mit der schon wieder gehypten Urban Decay Naked 3 mit. Rosig-taupe-mauve Töne, die einfach jedem stehen!
Die Palette beginnt mit einem mittleren Gold mit Rosé Einschlag, Gates of Eden ist wunderbar geeignet als Solo Lidfarbe (habe das Gefühl, das werde ich noch häufiger schreiben!) und auch als Highlighter im Innenwinkel bei dunkleren Make Ups. Die nächsten zwei sind für mich einige der schönsten Nuancen überhaupt und bislang so noch nicht in anderen Sleek Paletten: Eve’s Kiss ist ein schönes, helles Mauve, Paradise on Earth ebenfalls, jedoch mit Brauneinschlag.
Die untere Reihe beginnt mit einem mittleren Braun mit matter Basis und feinem goldenen Glitter: Entwinded eignet sich auch trotz Glitter zum Abdunkeln, trägt man es geschichtet auf, ist der Glitter sehr gut sichtbar! Adam’s Apple ist die erste komplett matte Farbe in der ersten Hälfte der Palette und auch die einzige Farbe, die ich im Ton eher “meh” finde. Für grüne Looks jedoch toll zum Verblenden dunklerer Grüns. Fig ist dabei so etwas wie die frostige Schwester von Adam’s Apple – im Ton ähnlich, das Finish gibt dem Lidschatten aber ein fast goldiges Aussehen.
Die obere Reihe brilliert weiterhin mit Schönheiten: Python ist im Gegensatz zu Paradise on Earth (ein Mauve mit Braun) meiner Meinung nach ein Braun mit Mauve. Etwas dunkler als Paradise und sowohl als Lidfarbe als auch zum Abdunkeln gut geeignet. Dann folgt einer meiner absoluten Lieblinge: Forbidden ist ein 1A mattes Taupe mit Goldglitter. Ich liebe diese Farbe, wie auch bei Entwinded hindert der Glitter nicht wirklich am Verblenden – auch hier kann man deckend auftragen, der Glitter wird dadurch sichtbarer, fein und edel. Ich habe keine Probleme mit Fallout, aber man kann ich auch etwas abklopfen. Flora ist ein warmes Dunkelbraun, das sowohl gut zu den Grüntönen als auch den Mauve Taupes passt. Eine gute Option statt des üblichen matten Schwarz!
Evergreen und Fauna sind meiner Meinung nach wunderschöne Grüntöne, die auch als Akzent funktionieren. Besonders Fauna gefällt mir sehr gut. Der letzte Lidschatten Tree of Life ist ein sattes, mattes Dunkelgrün, erinnert mich etwas an Hip Hop on a Tree Top von Catrice, der ausgelistet wurde. Sehr intensiv und sowohl in Kombination mit Taupe als auch Grün grandios.
Alle Lidschatten sind buttrig und gut zu verblenden. Der schwierigste von allen war Adam’s Apple – matt und hell ist immer eine Kombination, die Schichten oder eine Base braucht.
Die folgenden Bilder belasse ich mal unkommentiert, ich denke, ihr könnt eure Schlüsse daraus ziehen:
Zwei Make Ups, die ich bislang mit der Palette geschminkt – und auf Instagram geteilt habe, es waren natürlich inzwischen weit mehr… – könnten nicht gegensätzlicher sein!
Das erste Make Up soll die “neutralen” Möglichkeiten zeigen – rein auf die Mauve Töne aufgebaut ist es ein wunderschöner “Alltagslook” geworden, habe ich seit dem Kauf schon zig mal geschminkt: Eve’s Kiss im Innenwinkel, Paradise on Earth auf dem Lid, abgedunkelt mit Python, ausgeblendet mit Forbidden.
Das zweite Make Up könnte fast als St. Patrick’s Day Look durchgehen 😉 Ich wollte endlich die Grüntöne verwenden: Fig im Innenwinkel, Evergreen auf dem Lid. Tree of Life im Außenwinkel und Fauna zum Verblenden dazwischen. In der Lidfalte leicht mit Flora ausgeblendet. Ich find’s toll, wie der grüne Ring in meiner Iris mit grünem Lidschatten besser hervorkommt.
