Just how long did I let this post lie in my drafts! But why did I postpone publishing it? Did I want to find flaws, testing it for months?
Mh, probably, sounds a bit like me…
The LORAC Pro Palette was top of my swap list and I have been using it for a couple of months now. And yes, I think I do have an opinion about it now.
What you see at first glance: The LORAC Pro is yet another netural palette. Just like the Urban Decay NAKEDs or the their dupes, respecively. I almost dread to mention the NAKEDs all the time, as I think they are a bit overrated. But as they are somewhat the most popular eyeshadow products of this time…
How do those palettes compete against each other? Are they even competitors?
First off, I would like to get the packaging talk out of the way though. I feel the palette is extremely practical and well made out of stiff cardboard. Simple, sleek, black and super slim but with a mirror inside. As common with this style of palette, it closes magnetically. The palette folds out completely flat – people who would like to use the mirror probably see this as a disadvantage, I like that it doesn’t close while I am doing my make up.
The palette is as thin as the Zoeva Rodeo Belle or even one of the Sleek i-divines, contains more pans than both of them though.
There are 16 eyeshadows in neutral tones, mostly special due to the fact that the LORAC Pro palette’s first row contains only matte shades, the bottom row is fitted with shimmery colours (while I feel that White is more of a satin finish though), which makes it extremely compatible and wearable.
It only holds 8.8 grams of product, for which you have to fork out 42$. However, doing the maths per eyeshadow, it rounds up to about 2.6$ (1,9€), which is more like highstreet level. The Pro Palette comes with a nicely sized sample of their great eye primer though. Excellent value for the money in total I think,

Well, you don’t really have to work to get a good colour pay-off. All (!) of them are extremely pigmented, smooth and soft. The shimmery colours in particular are that good, you almost have to be careful not to pick up too much product to prevent crumbs and fallout. I always advise to tap off the excess!
The first, matte row is just fantastic. The palette contains a lost of the “boring, basic shades”, other palettes just lack – yes, I need a Taupe or Mauve. Always. Cream is a perfect match for a lot of skintones to blend basically any eye look, a warm and a slightly cooler dark brown there as well…as well as a rich black, that easily serves as an eyeliner as well.
You will find excellent go-to-shimmer lid colours in the stunning second row: Just look at Garnet! Next to Pewter probably my favourite shade of the palette. There even is a smokey plum. The grey, slate, rounds up the selection nicely and tempts me into trying a more metallic grey for once again.
And, to be honest, I love how the shade names are just…what they are! Yes, I do chuckle about certain creative names, puns, play on words, but it is somewhat relaxing to read “White” and get a white!
Honestly, the LORAC Pro is somewhat the ideal palette for me – matte and shimmer colours that work perfectly together. The LORAC Pro seems way more attractive to me as a beauty blogger than the NAKED palette – you barely miss more browns or shimmery taupes, which I own plenty of as single eyeshadows anyway. Which makes it the perfect travel companion: If you need it, just grab a Satin Taupe (dupe) and be done with it, as there even is a rich black for eyeliner purposes!
So, in direct comparison to the NAKED palettes?
Well, anybody who already spent the money on all three NAKEDs is probably not that interested in yet another Neutrals palette. However, I think the LORAC would even be a great addition for those people, even an alternative while travelling, since it holds more matte shadows than all of the three NAKED palettes combined. The shimmery tones probably are more replaceable, even though there are some original shades in Garnet or Pewter. A hard decision, personally, I would probably always recommend the LORAC Pro first!
I have been doing countless looks with it the past weeks, sadly I only found two on my sd card. Odd, but motivation to post more looks.

Wanting more! Pretty much at the top of my wishlist you find the LORAC Pro 2 and even the Unzipped, which paved the way for Urban Decay’s NAKED 3 imho. you could really get used to LORAC’s eyeshadow quality…
Do you own the LORAC Pro? How do you like the choices of finishes and colours? Does it stand its ground next to the NAKED palette or is the latter just your gold standard?

Die LORAC Pro Palette stand ganz oben auf meiner Swap Liste und inzwischen habe ich sie ja schon einige Monate in Benutzung. Und ich denke, ich habe mir eine gute Meinung gebildet.
Was natürlich sofort auffällt: Die LORAC Pro ist mal wieder eine neutrale Palette. Wie auch die NAKED Reihe von Urban Decay oder eben die Dupes dazu. Ich find’s ja schon fast etwas mühsam, die NAKED Paletten hier heranzuziehen, da ich sie grundsätzlich für etwas überbewertete halte, aber da sie nun einmal das anscheinend beliebteste Lidschattenprodukt unserer Zeit sind…
Wie stehen die Paletten also in Konkurrenz? Oder vielleicht sind sie gar keine Konkurrenten?
Ich möchte zu Beginn erst mal darauf eingehen, wie schick und praktisch die Verpackung aus hartem Karton ist. Einfach, schlicht schwarz, super slim und trotzdem mit Spiegel! Wie häufig bei dieser Art Verpackung mit Magnetverschluss.
Die Palette ist gleich dünn wie die Zoeva Rodeo Belle oder auch eine Sleek i-divine, enthält aber mehr Pfännchen. Toll!
Es sind 16 Lidschatten in neutralen Töne enthalten, das Besondere an der LORAC Pro Palette ist jedoch, dass die obere Reihe matt gehalten, die untere Reihe shimmer Lidschatten enthält. Wobei, White nach meinem Empfinden doch leicht satiniert daherkommt. Der Rest der Reihe ist aber in der Tat matt. Insgesamt sind nur 8.8 Gramm enthalten, wofür man 42$ bezahlt. Umgerechnet kommt man da pro Lidschatten auf 2.6$ (1,9€), was jetzt ungefähr essence Niveau wäre. Dazu kommt noch die Sample Größe des tollen Eye Primers, der der Palette beiliegt!
BÄM
Ja, bemühen muss man sich um die Lidschatten nicht wirklich. Alle (!) sind kräftig in der Farbabgabe und alle sind sehr geschmeidig, soft. Besonders bei den schimmernden Farben muss man unter diesem Aspekt schon fast aufpassen, ein Pinselstreich reicht! Sonst kann es zu Krümeln oder Fallout kommen. Wie immer empfehle ich zu schichten statt zu rühren bzw. natürlich abzuklopfen.
Die obere, matte Reihe ist einfach fantastisch. Die Palette enthält so viele “Basistöne”, die in anderen Zusammenstellungen einfach abgehen – ja, ich brauche ein Taupe oder Mauve. Immer. Cream ist ein wunderbarer Hautton, der alle Looks verblenden kann, ein warmes und etwas kühleres Dunkelbraun…ein sattes Schwarz, das auch als Liner funktioniert, grandios.
In der Schimmer-Reihe gibt es einige praktische go-to-Lidfarben, und daneben wieder solche Granaten wie Garnet, neben Pewter wahrscheinlich mein Lieblingston der ganzen Palette. Ein rauchiges Pflaume ist sogar dabei. Das Grau, Slate, rundet die Palette gut ab und verführt mich dazu, doch mal wieder mehr mit metallischen Farben zu arbeiten.
Und, ehrlich gesagt, ich liebe die Farbnamen. Ja, Wortspiele und witzige Farbnamen haben schon auch etwas, aber es ist irgendwie schon erfrischend “White” zu lesen und auch ein weiß zu bekommen!
Für mich ist die LORAC Pro so etwas wie die Idealpalette – matte und schimmernde Farben, die gut miteinander harmonieren und kombinierbar sind. Die LORAC Pro ist als Palette für sich für mich als Schminkerin weit attraktiver als die NAKED Palette – extra Brauntöne oder schimmernde Taupes gehen mir kaum ab, hätte ich aber etwa zu Hauf als Monos daneben. Was sie auch als Reisepalette eignet: Bei Bedarf etwa noch einen Satin Taupe Verschnitt mitnehmen und man hat absolut alles, mit dem Schwarz auch den Eyeliner!
Im direkten Vergleich zu den NAKED Paletten also?
Nun, wer schon Geld für alle drei NAKEDs ausgelegt hat, wird wohl kaum mehr großes Interesse an einer weiteren Neutrals Palette haben. Dennoch empfinde ich die LORAC als hervorragende Ergänzung, teils Ersatz auf Reisen, da sie insgesamt mehr matte Lidschatten enthält, als alle drei NAKEDs zusammen. Die schimmernden Farben sind vl. eher “ersetzbar”, haben aber einige originelle Farben, wie Garnet und Pewter. Eine schwierige Entscheidung, ich würde wohl immer diese Palette hier empfehlen!
Ich habe schon unzählige Looks damit geschminkt, irgendwie aber wohl nur sehr wenige festgehalten. Seltsam, ich versuche das noch nachzuholen.
Für 42$ kann man dieses Glanzstück haben, amazon.com versendet auch international (es werden ca. 10$ an Gebühren fällig).
Und was bleibt am Ende des Lobliedes?
Der Wunsch nach mehr! Auf meiner Wunschliste stünden dann ja noch ganz oben die LORAC Pro 2 und auch die Unzipped, die meiner Meinung nach der NAKED 3 von Urban Decay den Weg gezeichnet hat… an die Qualität der LORAC Lidschatten kann man sich ja sehr schnell gewöhnen.
