And so Zoeva has done it – another step further away of being “the shop with the 88er palettes”.

With a stunning collection of four eyeshadow palettes Zoeva now has pretty much all product categories covered. After their Blushes and Lip Crayons and the new amazing additions to their brush line I really have been waiting for an announcement like this!

Eyecatching: Not shying away from bright colours!

I recently received the palette which carries the single red shadow but I must confess I am quite smitten with the looks of their version of “neutral”. Ever since I read that this one holds at least one duo-chrome shadow as well…ah. See below for a picture.

Back on topic – Rodeo Belle:

I am quite sure some of you turned up their noses at the first glance of this colour selection, am I right? I was unsure about it myself but I decided to give it a shot – and I swatched it row by row for you. I think, the ulterior intention of the palette becomes way more apparent like this:

While the top row consists of five clearly warm shades, the bottom row is made up by five cooler toned shadows. Quite clever actually. Whoever uses only one colour temperature will not get happy with this collection of colours though.

The one duo-chrome colour in the Rodeo Belle palette is Yee Haw, a light petrol/aqua colour with lovely golden shimmer which makes the colour seem almost greenish once applied. Really beautiful indeed even though I cannot tell yet if a shade like this would suit my complextion.

Surprisingly as well – one shade I mentioned on social media as a matte shadow turns out to actually be glittery, ever so slightly. I am talking about Rodeo Ready, a very warm and rich brown. The glitter is not as obvious as in Western Diva or as bright as in Deadshot but it’s definitely there – I’ve finally identified the “Matte Glitter” finish stated by Zoeva.

On closer inspection, not even Early Sunrise is completely matte, it’s more of a satin finish. Only Cactus Flower and Day Money truly are the only mattes in this palette.  The rest of the colours are metallics.

No complaints from me about the pigmentation of these shadows. My brushes picked up the pigment easily and they come of very vibrant when used on a base. For my arm swatches I didn’t use any, btw. The consistency of the matte shades impressed me greatly, they are buttery and smooth, not chalky at all.

The palettes’ designs complement the theme of the name and the colours. Made out of sturdy cardboard they do resemble the oh-so-loved Urban Decay palettes I assume. What I like about it: It’s light as a feather! Although I can understand some might point out the missing mirror, however, without it the palette is slim and super light. It has magnetic closure and comes in a design coordinated sleeve for protection. Direct comparison shows the Zoeva palette is longer than a Sleek i-Divine but fairly similar in thickness. The pans are about the size of a generic single eyeshadow which you can see in the picture next to the eye brushes. | 19cmx8.5cmx1cm

Even more swatches, yeehaw!

For these swatches I applied the shadows about 2-3x with a brush to achieve the same amount of coverage you would want when applied on the lid.

I’ve already done some make ups with the palette but only photographed one of them:

Why obviously, I’ve chosen these two shades, Bang Bang and Deadshot for my first look with the palette. A vibrant red with shimmer and a burgundy with glitter as it seemed. Especially this shade though is quite a transformer!

Swatching it, however, it seems to be a heavly blackened burgundy with reddish-purple-ish glitter. Blending it on top of a red shade like Bang Bang the purple hue transfers more visibly. Very interesting indeed. This shade is predestined for smokey eyes!

Let’s just ignore I took this pic late in the evening, shall we. Another picture from a different angle is available on Instagram. I did the blending with Cactus Flower and Rodeo Ready, even some Early Sunrise in the tear duct area. Interestingly enough, even eyeliner and the waterline kajal are by Zoeva, on a Zoeva Eye Base. All that’s missing now is a brow product and mascaras, no?

Conclusion

The quality is convincing, you will need to keep in mind the colour selections though; might not be to everyone’s taste, apart from the nude palette I guess. In comparison to Sleek’s offer at 13.2g for about 10€ (12 colours) you get 15g for 16.80€ (10 colours) from Zoeva.

But wait, there’s more!
