Volareeee, ohooo! Cantareee! Ohohooo! [Dean Martin ♥]

Just shortly after the oh-so-great Garden of Eden Sleek MakeUp announced a follow up palette: Del Mar it is, and don’t ignore the Volume 1, people! I assume we are to be expected another edition shortly.

Del mar seems fairly chaotic and almost too bright on first glance, on a closer look those shades aren’t even that vibrant at all, plus: the majority of the colours are mattes! Which is quite a big deal with Sleek.

Previous spring and summer palettes, like Monaco oder Curaçao have shown similar results though.

This palette starts out with a cool-toned antique gold: Lounge Lovers is one of the few very frosty colours. It is obviously a fairly nice all-over-lid-colour. Yes, even this palette has those “neutral” looks! Poolside is the first flat matte shade and the name describes it perfectly: Swimmingpool blue. Very interesting but I am still pondering if it would suit me and how I would combine it. Sunset Strip is a seemingly vibrant orange with satin matte finish, swatched though, it looks really soft and pastell-like. I am already imagining it with one of the purple colours…

Opening Party is almost duochrome having a purple base with blueish shimmer. To be honest, it reminds me a lot of a shade in a MUA Palette. The next colour in the second row obviously got the most attention from me: On the Rocks, is a red pink with a slight shimmer. Talamanca, a matte, midtone brown is an absolute dream – in colour and texture.

The second half starts off with another personal favourite: Ambience is just the right combination of plum and grey to be a lovely shading tone. Next to any reddish eyeshadows I really love purple! Chilled Out  is a matte, pure white – which you can clearly see in its pigmentation. For highlighting purposes it is just about perfect though. Blue Margin is a dark matte teal, I actually liked it so much in the swatch I had to incorporate it somehow in my first look, see below.

Feel Euphoric reminds me of barbiepink even – I am thinking of repurposing it as blush even. That green next to it, Balearic Beat, strongly resembles the matte Lime in Garden of Eden I feel. Interesting, but hard to combine. Paradise, the last colour, a matte true mauve, also seems weakish in the swatch. Next to Chilled Out clearly the weakest shade.

In total, there are seven mattes, two satin and three shimmer colours in this palette. And yet again: No matte black!

As usual, a closeup picture spam is following – form your own opinion:

Today I’ve been experimenting with it and so I created a pastell spring look with it: In my opinion, this also passes as a everyday look, but I’ve always been wearing colours on non-special days… I must admit the colours don’t pop as they should on the picture, but what you can you do. However, you can see that the shades definitely are not too bright at all:

Obviously there are endless combinations possible – in this picture I am wearing Lovers Lounge, On the Rocks, Ambience, Blue Martin and Talamanca

In total a pretty decent palette regarding the eyeshadow quality. But that doesn’t really come as a surprise with Sleek, now does it. The colour selection is perfectly suitable for the season: Colourful and fun. But that also means it’s not to everyone’s taste. Two brownie points for the palette: Lots of the colours are good quality mattes and the vibrancy turns out really soft and easy to blend once applied.

The palette contains the usual 13.2g of product at a £8 or 10€ pricepoint, also available on amazon. “Designed and developed in the UK, produced in China”. Unlike the Garden of Eden Limited Edition packaging, this one apparently is available outside of the UK as well.

And as always, an overview of my Sleek Swatches collection in the menu. More bird’s eye perspective views of this palette in the first linked post will follow shortly as well:

How do you like it? Too cobbled together? Too colourful? How about in comparison to the Garden of Eden? What do you want from a “spring eyeshadow palette”?

Neben Chilled Out übrigens mMn der schwächste Ton.

“Designed and developed in the UK, produced in China”.

Danke an Shades of Pink.
